BASIC MRI COURSE FOR NEW MR RADIOGRAPHERS
BASIC TECHNICAL ESSENTIALS:
NEUROIMAGING, CLASSROOM + HANDS-ON MRI
Setting up routine, state-of-the-art brain and spine examinations/protocols
Length of course
- 4 days accredited course
- 20th to 23rd March 2012
- 2 days of theory followed by 2 days of hands-on training on MR system (with assignments).
- pdf outline of course
Objectives
- Basic MR component
- Participants obtain theoretical and applied knowledge of various aspects relating to MRI basics and of practical usage of MRI system in order to perform basic examinations
- Basic neuro component
- Participants complement and deepen their theoretical and state-of-the-art knowledge of several aspects relating to brain and spine imaging.
Aim
- Basic MR component
- Course includes both theoretical and practical components and provides a package that enables radiographers to handle basic MRI examinations
- Basic Neuro component
- Course includes both theoretical and practical components and a theoretical and practical explanation of state-of-the-art brain and spine protocols. Radiographers can handle basic brain and spine examinations and adapt basic parameters and protocols. The goal is to achieve the best image quality for various pathologies by using specific protocols and manipulating scan parameters.
Content
- Basic MR component
- Introduction to MR technology, basics of MR physics, specific terminology used by different vendors, overview of MR systems, safety, HW/SW components, basic RF Pulse sequences, interactive quiz
- Basic Neuro component
- Overview of MR RF pulse sequences that are used, state-of-the-art MRI brain and spine, key MR parameters and how to optimise/customize them, protocol setup, interactive quiz
- Hands-on training
- Training on Philips MR system and covers practical items such as MR console and user interface, workflow and protocol setup and patient/coil positioning.
