What will happen at my appointment?

After checking in at the reception of our Diagnostic Healthcare clinic in Altrincham (South Manchester), our audiologist will take a history of your hearing and Analyze problems you are experiencing with your hearing. The audiologist performs various tests such as Speech testing, looking inside of your ears using an otoscope, and perform pure tone test by an Audiogram.

To perform the audiometer test, the Audiologist will put on a set of headphones on your ear canal that are connected to an audiometer. The audiometer produces tones at specific frequencies and set volume levels to each ear independently. As you respond to the various tone frequencies by pushing a button when you hear a tone, the audiologist can determine which frequencies are not being heard normally and what degree of hearing loss may be present.

Is any preparation necessary?

No    -  - no preparation is required for this examination.

How long will the health check take?
The hearing test assessment takes up to 25 minutes.

How will I understand the results and what may I need to do then?
Your results will be available immediately after your test at Diagnostic Healthcare. Our Audiologist will explain the results at the end of the assessment and will give you a copy of the report for you to pass to your GP. Your GP will advise you if any further action is necessary, such as referral to an ear specialist.
