Saturday 24th September 2016

Suitable for all sports people aged from 15 to 35

Manchester Giants players will receive cardio screening following the tragic deaths of two popular members of the city’s basketball community. A date has been set for the players of the British Basketball League club to visit the Diagnostic Healthcare clinic in Altrincham, while testing will also available to other sports people at a reduced cost.

The move comes after the deaths in recent years of Manchester players Steve Brown and Juma Ngqobongwana, who were both close to the club. Meanwhile former Giants player Phil Wait also recently had successful heart surgery. Diagnostic Healthcare has teamed up with the Giants to offer subsidised heart screening to young people aged between 15 and 35.

We want to highlight this issue, make sure our players are safe and encourage other people to be screened too.”
